Some of you might well remember Cheryl
Kroemer who sang in our praise team. She and her husband Jim were
faithful members while they lived here but have since moved up north.
As well you should remember our asking for prayer for Cheryl as she
was having some health issues and was in the intensive care unit.
Well...here is an email I received from her just today:
As an update, I've been home six
days now from the Parkview Heart Institute (Ft. Wayne, IN) and except
for having no voice due to the breathing apparatus (and my fighting
it) and a sore site, I'm doing pretty well. I have to keep reminding
myself to relax and take it easy, knit, read, watch TV, etc. When I
over do it, I KNOW it! I see the doc for the first time since being
released tomorrow and hope for a good report. All I know now if I
cannot drive for 8 weeks nor can I raise my right arm above my head
for the same amount of time due to the docs not wanting me to pull any
leads out of my heart. Since I'm a lefty, the pacemaker/defibrillator
was implanted on my right side.
The silk flower arrangement Mt. Zion sent to me is so exquisite, I
can't put into words their beauty. I had to fight off several nurses
who kept saying the arrangement would fit into THEIR color scheme at
home! Anyway, it's the only silk I received and I'm thrilled to have
it...forever!

As of this moment, the revival I am supposed to preach might be
delayed until the middle of April because of the possible snow storm
we are to receive. Jack Bowman of the Cynthiana "Unity" Christian
Church called me today and informed me of the possible move due to the
snow, so I in turn telephoned Artie Carnes to tell him of this
situation and how he might not want to come here either, if the big
snow does hit. Artie would be coming from Indiana which could get more
snow than we do but since none of knows what will happen with the
weather, we are on a "Wait & see" mode. Come on out to church this
Sunday as the snow should have cleared by then and be surprised as to
just who will be preaching.
This past Sunday we concluded our series "In Search of the Family."
This was a much needed series and I am praying we apply the lessons we
learned. If we are merely hearers of the word, we are no better off
than someone who hasn’t heard. As a matter of fact, the Bible tells us
we will be worse than those who haven’t heard IF we refuse to change.
It is my prayer we heed the challenges and warnings from others who
have gone through valleys we could avoid.
This past Wednesday the Elders and Deacons met for a time of sharing
information and making ministry more effective. While we were meeting
in the conference room, Youth were practicing skits in the Sanctuary,
the Children’s church group was in the Chapel practicing songs and the
Women’s ministry group met in the kitchenette.
While I am excited about all of these groups, I must say I am
especially proud of the Women’s Ministry group for accepting a
challenge and proving how ministry is more than just words. Here is
how their night unfolded: Ann Williams, representing the Appalachian
Mission of Hope which is located in McKee, Ky. spoke to our Women’s
group at the first of their meeting and then every woman present went
to work creating and packaging more than 80 Easter baskets. AWESOME!!!
You should be able to see their work this Sunday. They will be
displayed in some of the foyers but don’t sneak any of the goodies out
of them. They are going to McKee Kentucky for the children of that
poor area so they might have something for Easter. Thank you ladies
for this labor of love. Hey...I know, maybe the women's group should
call themselves "Words–N-More."
See ya soon.
For the Cause of Christ,
Kenny
