This Sunday is Mothers Day...Men, DO NOT FORGET IT! Whatever you do, remember! Write it down, put a string around your finger, do something but do not forget it.

We have a tendency to forget things in life and this Sunday’s sermon will be a reminder of the commandment which begins our relation / attitude toward our fellow man by beginning with our parents. If we cannot accept their authority and their decisions we might never be able to adjust to life. The Bible tells us that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and we can see that the whole story of mankind is a common thread of defiance.

Exodus 20:12 is our scripture and is grounded in honor...Honor thy father and thy mother. Joseph Addison said "Better to die ten thousand deaths than wound my honor." I pray we each have great honor for our fellow man but most importantly for our parents.

Fifty years ago the number one goal of parents was to impart moral and spiritual values to our children but now it seems we are teaching our children to be independent. The problem is very evident...little or no respect for the authority of the teacher, Preacher or Policeman. Not even the Governor or President carries much clout these days. This is a talk back, fight back, answer back, defiant generation. Instead of a teachable spirit and a humble attitude, our society now stands with a defiant expression and a curled lip saying, "Nobody tells me what to do." There is a real need to hear about the fifth commandment. The first four deals with our relation to God and then the next six deals with our relation to our fellow man. I find it very interesting that the first of these next six commandments deals with respect, honor and acknowledgement of someone being superior to ourselves.

Come Sunday looking to see Jesus.........and you will.

Here are a few scriptures to look into before Sunday.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21
Proverbs 13:24
Proverbs 19:13
Ephesians 6:1-3
Colossians 3:20
