June 24, 2008

This Sunday we hope to be meeting at College Park where we will enjoy a great service honoring all veterans and current service persons. Service time is to be the usual Mt. Zion time of 10:10, but please do not come at your usual time of 10:20...if that is the case. Ha! Ha!

Dr. Cecil Todd will bring a stirring message of which he is famous. We plan to have the COLOR GUARD, which Paul Blackwell is a member, to bring in the flags. We will be singing patriotic songs and pledging allegiance to our great flag. We will receive an offering somewhere near the middle of the service to be for Mt. Zion Christian Church and then we plan to take up a separate offering at the conclusion of Dr. Todd’s speech which will go specifically towards Bibles for soldiers. Come out and enjoy a morning of outside worship in the middles of town and I am sure you will go away inspired, possessing a renewed spirit of believing in this great nation and the causes for which she was born.

This past Wednesday we discussed the need for several work teams and while discussing them we found a few people recognizing their strengths and offering to head up or be a part of a specific team. Below is the result of this meeting and those who have offered their abilities to help lead and support that team. Please prayerfully consider helping out even if you think the all bases are loaded, cause we promise you that they aren’t.

MT. ZION CHRISTIAN CHURCH LEADERS CONFERENCE
JUNE 18, 2008 6:00 – 8:00

J.D. Miller discussed the 3 C’s of Effective Ministry. He stated we need to be committed to the office we have been called. We must communicate effectively and often. Finally, he said we must be willing to die to self which he labeled as "Crucifixion." Ministry will only be realized when we 1st adhere to these 3 C’s.

We then discussed areas of responsibility which need attention. These areas were not intended for immediate assignment but as we looked at each, some of the areas were recognized as an item of interest to some present. I will list those who requested to build a team around these areas.
