This past Sunday’s
service was a great time of unification as we heard Brother Wayne B.
Smith bring an inspiring message on leadership...leader-ship which
unites and moves forward. I appreciated the words, vision and
challenge from our newly ordained Elders, Ed Jernigan & Steve
Haskins. And the mood within the walls of Mt. Zion Christian Church
was evident to all, especially for Rachel Horning and Daniel Maxim
as they came forth and voiced their desire to accept Jesus Christ as
their Savior. Being buried with Christ through baptism is a moment
to embrace and remember. As the Apostle Paul puts it in his letter
to the people of Rome;
Romans 6: 3- 7 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized
into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore
buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as
Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we
too may live a new life. 5 If we have been united with him like this
in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his
resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him
so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no
longer be slaves to sin-- 7 because anyone who has died has been
freed from sin.

Vacation Bible School is going great with record attendances both
Sunday and Monday. We have more teachers and helpers this year as
well. Everyone is giving their all as this might very well prove to
be the best VBS ever.
J.D. Miller...what can I say. I did not know that he could be sooo
silly. His actions constitute the biggest surprise ever at VBS. And
remember I said "be silly." I did not say "act silly." I am trying
to figure out now if his intellectual side is the act and the silly
side is the reality.
The dunking booth awaits us this Tuesday night for any who might
have their pitching arms ready. Come on out and witness the great
fun of being a Christian and sharing with others.

I want to thank Tim York for his masonry expertise as he and some of
his students prepped and poured concrete back over the holding tanks
in front of the garage / barn. It was hot, tough work but they
volunteered and completed their mission. Please tell Tim how much we
appreciate his efforts. The end result is awesome. THANKS!!!
Also, say a word of thanks to Tim’s wife Kim as well. Because of
Kim’s talented eye, each week we have pictures of baptisms, singers,
speakers, banquets, VBS, etc. Kim is Mt. Zion’s resident
photographer. She is also available for Weddings n such. If you
might be interested in utilizing her abilities, her website is

This Sunday we will pick back up on the Sermon "The Way to the Tree
of Life." We hope to look into the book of Genesis 3:21-24 The
LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed
them. 22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of
us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his
hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."
23 So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the
ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out,
he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a
flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree
of life.
Ponce DeLeon looked for the "Fountain of Youth" but his time would
have been better spent had he read The God of all creation’s LOVE
LETTERS...The Bible. He would have known the Fountain of Youth
is...Well, come Sunday you will know what Ponce should have known
and this knowledge would have saved him more than just time.
For the Cause of Christ,
Your Preaching Minister, Kenny
