From the Preaching Minister

August 14, 2008

Last week we spoke of holding to certain things and now I am wondering, after we have had a few days to think about it... "What is it you hold to in life, and do you hold it high?" I hope to bring a message this Sunday from Numbers 21:4-9 where the Hebrew children complained and were bitten by snakes and died. Check it out before Sunday and maybe even do some cross referencing. It is surprising the events, and future words which surround this time in Israel’s history.

Wasn’t it wonderful to see a young man travel back to the place where so much has occurred in his life, and request to rededicate his life to God? Joseph Dennis’ parents were married here and his Grandfather was an Elder here for many years until his death. Joseph was also baptized here and tends to call Mt. Zion "Home." Although he and his family now live near Cincinnati, they travel to Winchester a few times a year and we can always count on a visit from them on Sunday. May God Bless You Joseph, and thanks for loving Mt. Zion so much and remembering you too are loved.

Tom Blackburn & his beautiful wife Mary Anne joined Mt. Zion this past Sunday and we rejoice in their decision. They have already become friends with many here and are working as if they were born here. Thank you Tom & Mary Anne for you quick dedication and labors of love which come in many forms.

I wish to thank Jerry & Sandy Stevenson for their coming to Mt. Zion and walking to the podium after I reported the history surrounding his healthy demise and miraculous turn around...especially after Doctors wanted to pull him off of life supports. I appreciate his thankful words of praise towards the prayers offered in his behalf. Jerry and Sandy are true believers in God and HIS TRUTH. Keep believing, Keep looking, Keep trusting GOD.

J.D. will not be here this Sunday but Judy plans to fill in to the best of her abilities. I thank God we have such talented people at Mt. Zion who step up and step in whenever needed. I especially thank God for the desire of Mt. Zion to share J.D. with this world. J.D. & Cheryl bring so much to Mt. Zion’s table and do it in such a way that they make it possible for others to fill in and continue on when they need to be away. I appreciate their work and selfless attitude. Please pray for them as they travel.

Mt. Zion is truly experiencing great times in the Lord these days and I pray they continue for many years. I believe this change is due to people wanting God and nothing else and the willingness to do what is necessary for this to be. These days remind me of Psalm 133 1 How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

See You Sunday and come expecting a miracle. Remember, "We find what we are looking for."
