From the Preaching Minister

November 17, 2008

I received a telephone call this morning from Willis Jackson informing me of his wife Carolyn's passing. Willis, Carolyn, Laura, Nathan & Stephanie have endured a very tough year as together they prayed and fought against the Cancer. Everyone is deeply appreciative of every prayer, meal & visit which helped to make this battle a little more bearable. The visitation should be Wednesday evening 6-8pm at Mt. Zion Christian Church with the funeral being scheduled for Thursday 10AM. And then dismissing to the Linkliter Cemetery in Laurel County off HWY 229 about 8 miles out of London towards Barbourville near the "Campground Methodist."

Please continue to pray for this fine family.
Scobee Funeral Home is handling all arrangements and flowers can either be directed toward delivery at Mt. Zion or to Scobees Funeral Home. David Scalf has been asked to conduct the services as J.D. Miller & I will be in Oklahoma for a Missionary Convention and Speaking to churches. We are scheduled to return the following Monday.
Willis called me this past Thursday even as my airplane flight was landing in Lexington and he told me of Carolyn decline. He also said he thought Carolyn wanted to make a verbal re-affirmation of faith in Christ Jesus. After being picked up at the airport by Judy, we drove to their home and together with Nathan, Willis Judy, Carolyn and myself we all voiced that great declaration of Faith in Jesus. We should all thank God for the time Carolyn had with us and that time which we had with her.

This Sunday a wonderful speaker, Karin Paparelli, from Nashville, Tennessee plans to come to Mt. Zion and experience with all the wonderful worship afforded in this remote location and to speak of the grace of Jesus. Please invite your neighbors and friends...and maybe your neighbor and friends may become one in the same person.

I thank you for the warm response given to Terri Wooley when he was here a couple of weeks ago. Everyone I have talked to has spoken highly of the awesome service and even mentioned the moving video brought to us via the internet and J.D. Miller. Thanks J.D. for bringing this which was sent to you as I know you receive many videos, music and letters. Thanks for taking time to go through each one so Mt. Zion might receive the very best there is to offer.

I hope to preach a stirring message the Sunday of November 30th on the subject of being sure of your salvation. It will investigate the thought of being sealed with Christ. Remember the signet ring used to seal the rock over the Lion's den from Daniel 6? Well, this sermon surrounds the idea of a soul being sealed, sealed by the Holy Spirit and what that exactly entails. Read up on the subject of the Holy Spirit and the power given when the third part of the Trinity is present within a human, you just might be surprised to find what you will discover.

I thank you for being real this past Sunday by allowing those that needed time at the altar and weeping with those who weep. I did not know while preaching that God would stir my heart to the degree it was stirred. I felt an overwhelming presence of Jesus and His desire for all of us to become more and more real with the author of our existence and salvation. While knowing I cannot live my life by feelings alone, I knew I was not alone in all I was feeling. I thank God for a church so decidedly dedicated to the Cause of Christ that she would embrace the move of His Holy Spirit in such a real and tangible way.

Remember to pray for this United States of America to the point we would be united...United for the Cause of Christ forever and ever and ever.

Your Preaching Minister,

Kenny
