From the Preaching Minister
| December 04, 2008 |
| |
After returning from the Nation Missionary Conference
and seeing the stage set up for our December ministry
presentation "How Christmas Saved the Grinch", I
decided to put the sermon about "Being Sure of Your
salvation" on hold. The set lent itself to an awareness of
Christmas so much so that I thought it best to wait.
Our sermon series during this Christmas season exposes a few
qualifiers for true happiness. I was introduced to these
statements many years ago and believe them to be relevant
today more than ever. This past Sunday we saw how Mary had
"Someone to Believe in" from the book of Luke,
chapter one, verses 26 thru 38. This coming Sunday I plan
for us to look at the follow up to "Someone to Believe in"
with "Something to Do" continuing with verses 38-56.
The following Sunday I am hopeful we will be able to witness
how Joseph was given "Something to Look Forward To"
with the dream he encountered. And then the Sunday before
Christmas, I pray we will all be in attendance as I desire
to bring a sermon based on "Someone To Love." I
believe each of these sermons will draw us closer to the
real meaning of Christmas AND especially with the December
21st sermon, cause us to realize just how awesome God is
with His plans and this day we celebrate each year as
possibly being more inspired than merely appointed by man.
Now that should spike your interest and maybe even some of
your friends as well. Come see that God is truly Alive, Well
and Involved in the affairs of mankind.
Think about these titles:
"Someone to Believe In",
"Something to Do",
"Something to Look Forward To"
& "Someone to Love."
Now let's ask ourselves two questions
#1 - "What's Missing?"
#2 – "Why?"
Please mark your calendars for December 24th as we plan to
have our annual Christmas Eve service, a time for stoppin'
the shoppin' and truly focusing on Christ birth as we sing a
few Carols and break bread together. Those who have set
aside this time in past years know of the real joy this
service brings, to be reminded one last time "The Reason For
The Season."
I hope to see each and every one this Sunday @ 10:10 AM for
Worship and again @ 7 PM for "How Christmas Saved the
Grinch."
For the Cause of Christ,
Kenny
