From the Preaching Minister

December 10, 2008

WHOever missed Mt. Zion's ministry presentation "How Christmas Saved The Grinch" this past Sunday Night missed an awesome display of the true meaning of Christmas. Even "Old Father Who" shared with us the meaning of "Christ Mass."
Many have commented how they did not remember last year's presentation being soooo good. They believed we changed the script, songs & or staging...but we didn't...we merely tried to improve upon what we already had and that in itself should be the quest of every Christian in every situation.

The reason for the greatest difference however might be each one of us doing more and more, and the best we can to communicate God's love. Being on the same page for some time now helps considerably as well. How pleased is our Lord when brothers dwell together in unity.

For Mt. Zion to be a church that makes a difference, we must continually strive to lift up the name of Jesus as in the words of John the Baptist through the book of John, Chapter 3, and verse 30 "He must become greater, I must become less."

Even today, the minds of Mt. Zion are at work, striving to develop an Easter message which would again drive home the real message of the story of resurrection. As with any other time of the year, we cannot celebrate one visitation of God without acknowledging the others as well as the all exciting, all inviting, soon return of our redeemer, "Jesus the Christ."

I wish to convey a great big "Thank You" to everyone who helped with the play, those who practiced their parts, those who constructed the scenery, those who foo-foo'd the props and lights, those who memorized songs, places to stand, motions to make, and attention to give. I am also thankful for those who worked the spot lights, cameras, power point projections, recordings...and revived old monitors. Why, we're even thankful for ole man Dave Congleton alias MR. SOUND!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I am very, very grateful for those unsung heroes who came back out Monday night to help pack up the set. I truly thought more would come out to help, especially after I spoke of getting involved and how Mary, after hearing the Angels announcement, walked a week's journey and stayed three months to help with her relative Elizabeth's pregnancy and delivery. But I am still grateful to those who came and worked. It would have been easier with more hands and I am sure many either forgot or had other things to do but I believe eventually, in time...if time permits, we will all discover that we cannot wait for everyone else to do the work that is asked of each one individually. So here is prior notice: We're doing an Easter Ministry Presentation and will need Y O U

(Youth – Old & Ung.)

Thank You's also go out to Adam Grashel and Travis Bond for cleaning the Baptistery and again filling it. They worked hard to remove the boards from Mt. Crumpit and scrub the baptistery until it was well cleaned. THANKS!!!!! P.S. It's waiting for some of Y O U.

I also want to thank the Winchester Wal-Mart for donating their powered shopping scooter for our use. Please convey your thanks to Boyd Boling, our own Wal-Mart Pharmacist who made the call for this much needed and enjoyed addition to the performance. I know they cannot allow this "Out of the store" type of temporary donation all of the time but please voice your thanks (somewhat quietly) to those responsible.

I have never seen such wild hairdos in all of my life. Many of you "Who Girls" and "Who Guys" really did a number on your hair. WOW! Thanks for your time and ingenuity...how that hair stood up so straight is just..."Over the Top."

Cory Soldwisch (The Grinch) might still be a bit green under his gills so just smile and wave when you see him. Corey Spencer (The Dog) is still barking but we are praying that will end soon. And the Cat...ohhhh That Cat in The Hat (Bruce Manley) He was quite an effect, he must have practiced and practiced until his lines were PURRfect. Ha! HA!

This Sunday I plan to continue with our series "Christmas Keys", delving into key number 3 which is "Something To Look Forward To." It will be taken from the account in Matthew chapter one and is meant to be a sermon which looks into Joseph's dreams and the message God sent to him.

While some might say we should not give too much attention to these matters (and they might be a bit correct) I still believe it is good for us to take a glimpse into a few things we ourselves might be looking into at times and finally realize how they just might be something we are dabbling into without realizing the commands of God to steer clear of such things. Just because God sent Joseph a dream, don't lay in bed waiting on yours. Get up, wash your face and come on out to Mt. Zion for some enlightening thoughts straight from God's Holy Word.

P.S. Check out the sanctuary and look for a couple of differences.

For the Cause of Christ,

Kenny
