Well, here we go again!!!

I've had several computer crashes over the last month and am now writing another article which I hope will be able to reach everyone soon. My computer tech has tracked it all down to a thumb drive with which (in the past) I used to exchange information from one computer to another...for example: I would write my sermons at home on a laptop and then back it up on another computer and then carry it to church to print it out each week, all via "THE THUMB DRIVE".

See how easy it is to carry these virus' around. Needless to say the thumb drive is in several pieces in the trash. Evidently I received the hackers and virus' from one of the computers, not certain which, and once the thumb drive was used it became an awesome carrier. Now don't go throwing your thumb drives away...just make sure no one but yourself uses your computer. And don't get mad when you try and use a computer at church and wonder why you can't because there is a pass code required.

Now on to the good stuff:

This past Sunday was a tremendous worship experience as Bill Ballinger spoke of his former days of drug use, sales, and imprisonment as well as his ultimate turning to God. Bill will be returning to Winchester in February for a concert at George Rogers Clark High School during Assembly. They will then offer another concert away from school where they can minister for cause of Christ. Plan to get as many of your teenage friends to attend as I am sure it will be as wonderful as it was Sunday. P.J. Throckmorton has agreed to be our liaison for all of this of which we are most thankful.

I also wish to thank you for welcoming James & Monica Hughbanks into Mt. Zion membership. They were married a week ago and wanted to wait and join as a family. Please continue to make them welcome and see if we might incorporate them into the field which God has equipped them. You will have to get to know them a little better to find out where these areas exist.

Many thanks are extended to those who came back to Church Sunday afternoon to pack up, wrap up & put up all of the Christmas decorations. This is always a tough job for there is little joy surrounding the removal of such joyous expressions but we know they are not what Christmas is made of, it is the gift of love sent from above.

This Sunday I hope to bring message from the second chapter of Luke, chapter two, beginning with verse 41 which gives us the only glimpse into the early years of Jesus life. It is the story of Jesus being left in Jerusalem while his parents and others return home. Search it out and be ready to rejoice with a message intended to reveal the need for us to be concerned for our family members having Jesus with their homes.

Now............I hope this message reaches your home. I have also left a couple of praise reports which you may read below.

For the Cause of Christ,

Kenny

One from Mary Kling which details her husband Bob's recent trip to the hospital:

We wanted to let you know that Bobs surgery went great, they found no more cancer around the neck area, and want know if there was any in the core until Monday. We are praying that they removed it all when they took the lump off his neck. We serve an awesome God, one that hears and still answers prayers. We are looking forward into doing his work in Guatemala, we will be leaving Tuesday morning, we will see you Sunday .Have a great day, God Bless Love Mary and Bob Kling

Two from Mary Anne Crane
Tuesday morning ...

Hello, everyone ... just a quick update on Gayle, Tom's sister. It's not good news. The surgeon was able to remove that huge tumor on her right ovary, but couldn't get to or see anything else. Everything he touched bled. Gayle was given 4 units of blood during the surgery, and possibly got some more through the night. The doc couldn't even see the lymph nodes to remove them, and literally couldn't see any other tumors [if there were any] to remove ~ because of all the bleeding. Because of Gayle's lung complications these past 3 months, thereby the 3-month delay in having her surgery, the surgeon didn't want Gayle on the operating table for very long. So he went in with the mission to at least remove the one known tumor, and that's all he could do, He was originally expecting a 3-4+ hour surgery [exploratory] but it turned out to be just 2 hours. The unexpected good news is that Gayle was able to come off the respirator about an hour after surgery, and we thought that might be hours or days for that to happen. Please pray for not only Gayle, but for her caretakers ... her sister Shirley and her daughter Emma; neither one live in Louisville . And for Tom, as he is not able to be with Gayle. This has been so hard on his heart.

We love you, Mary Anne

We're Back Home In Winchester With Good News!

THANKS BE TO GOD for His goodness and faithfulness to us during this whirlwind month with Tom's prostate cancer!

For those of you who haven't heard an update of any kind from anyone ... Tom's surgery this past Tuesday was very successful. The surgeon was more than pleased with how everything went during the surgery. The prostate was @ 3 times bigger than normal. There was NO malignancy in the lymph nodes [a path report was done on them actually during the operation]. The prostate and the surrounding "marginal tissues" were sent off to a lab for processing, and we found out just this morning [Mon.] that there was NO cancer in the "marginal tissues". So that means that the cancer was totally contained, and Tom is cancer free!! Praise the Lord!! We are so grateful! And Tom feels like he has been given a second chance to serve the Lord in whatever way He leads.

Thank you, each one of you along the way, for your prayers on Tom's behalf in December and this past week of surgery. The doctor said Tom is to be off work for a month. Those of you who know Tom's patience level with news like that ... know that adhering to the "doctor's orders" is really going to max Tom to the limit! J The doc told Tom that this radical prostate procedure was the most major surgery a man could have, even more major than open heart surgery. We didn't know that going in!

After Tom was discharged Friday, we stayed an extra 2 days at our hotel in Nashville before attempting our return home. Then we took 2 days on the return trip ... some family matters took some priority for Tom, and the car ride really took a toll on Tom. We got back to Winchester this afternoon.

Some of you know that Tom's sister Gayle is having ovarian cancer surgery TODAY, actually while I am typing this note to you, and we covet your prayers (or continued prayers) on her behalf. Gayle has had a 3-month delay for this surgery, due to some lung issue complications.

Tom's one-week follow-up appt. is this Thursday morning back in Nashville , which means when we leave here Wed. afternoon. We'll have some more "rough riding" miles ahead. The trip is normally @ 4-5 hours, and will take an hour or more longer with extra stops. But we feel that the Lord led us to this particular surgeon, Dean Knoll, and all of this extra effort is worth it. Knoll is tops in his field. The Prince of Egypt, among others [and now Tom Blackburn] has been one of his patients, plus some of the ruling family from Saudi Arabia , and other dignitaries, famous people, who they can't share the names with us, etc. My brother, James, asked Tom if that means that we are all to call Tom "Prince Tom" from now on ... :)

Again, thank you for the prayers, love, cards, calls, e-mails, etc. for Tom. We serve a mighty God, and we are grateful for your love and friendship!

Love and later, Mary Anne
