Kenny's Blog

This past week Judy & I were on vacation with Karen &
Steve Haskins in Panama City, Panama and though I tried to
email a weekly blog to everyone...somehow it just didn't
happen. It was tough typing on a Spanish keyboard,
especially when I went looking for the "@" symbol. Seems you
must hold down the "Alt" key while pushing the "6" & "4"
numerals...what kind of sense does that make. The locals
didn't seem to have any trouble with it though...maybe it
really wasn't that difficult after all, just not what I was
accustomed to.
The same is true when reading the Bible. Some read and do
not understand right off and easily give up, but it is for
those who search diligently that the treasures of Heaven are
revealed. Look at it this way: If you have someone who tells
you that they love you and yet they refuse to read your love
letters to them...how convinced will you be that their love
is real, and how much more of your love will you divulge to
them? Keep reading, even if you do not understand. You will
find God's love letters making more and more sense as you
continue to read. I remember when I began to read the Bible
and being in the same situation as others, not
understanding. Then I decided to get a simpler version of
the Bible, something that was closer to the language I spoke
daily and I found it in the "Good News for Modern Man"
version. A year or so later I purchased a "Living Bible" and
found it to make things a little bit clearer. I eventually
went back to the "King James Version" and then it
made more sense than ever. Today I truly enjoy reading the "KJV"
although I preach from the "New International Version".
Just because we do not understand something right off does
not mean it is beyond comprehension, rather it might reveal
it is merely beyond our desire and effort to understand.
I love preaching and I know it is (according to scripture)
the only way the gospel (Good news) can bring people to a
saving knowledge of Jesus but it behooves us all to dig in
and find what God desires to speak to each one of us
personally. Sure, it might be tough at first, just like the
"@" symbol in Panama but give it your all, dig, ask
questions and I promise, you will not be dismayed.
The men from the prison who came March 29th were amazing. I
thoroughly enjoyed their zeal, music & testimonies. When I
left the building I felt like I had truly been to church,
prepared for more service!!!! I look forward to a return
visit from them in the future and I pray, pray, pray we are
about God's business by inviting friends and family to
attend the services at MZCC. There is always something
exciting happening and they should be allowed the
opportunity to find what they are missing. Please continue
to invite everyone you see to come out and worship with us.
I received a telephone call this past Monday from an Elder
of a Christian Church in northern Kentucky where I have a
revival scheduled who said he needed to ask me a few
questions because he had heard reports that I was
Pentecostal. I told him "Sir, on the day of Pentecost when
Peter preached and gave testimony of Jesus being the Christ,
those who were moved by his message asked what they must do
to be saved. When all was said and done 3,000 were baptized
and added to the church and by my faith in Christ, my
confession of Christ as Savior, my open, vocal and
demonstrative repentance of my sins, AND my being baptized
in the name of the Lord Jesus for the forgiveness of sins
and the gift of the Holy Spirit...I too have been added to
the list of those 3,000 saved on that day...so YES, I guess
you could call me Pentecostal." He laughed and said very
good, it sounds like we could use a Pentecostal as a Revival
Speaker. I am scheduled to be there beginning Monday, April
20th through Saturday April 26th if anyone would want to
come along.
This Sunday, our Children's Ministry Department will bring
their interpretation of the scriptural account of Jesus life
which revolved around this time of year 2,000 years ago.
Make sure and come out early so as to witness their
dedication to Christ as only they could relay it. Our Youth
Department, under the direction of Darlene Newsome will also
add to the story of the Resurrection life of Christ...but in
a bit of a different way with dance and song. AND I am sure
the time of Praise and Worship led by J.D. Miller will be
awesome as always. Invite friends, family, co-workers and
enemies.. and who knows, we might all walk away knowing just
how level the forgiving ground is at the foot of the cross.
For the Cause of Christ,
Kenny |
