Wednesday night at the movies was great. We had a good turnout of people and plenty to eat. Thanks to everyone who participated in the potluck fixins. If you have not seen the film "FIREPROOF" you need to make every effort to watch it. Steve Haskins said every person preparing for marriage should watch it, and I agree. Thank you Bruce Manley for suggesting, promoting and arranging for this wonderful movie to be shown.

I appreciate the faithfulness of our members and attendees during these summer months especially since many churches loose people due to vacations and everything else good weather provides. I was also greatly encouraged to receive a text message from Jennifer Palmer while she was on vacation in Florida recently. She wrote of coming out of a Sunday Church service and seeing a sign overhead the door as you leave which read "You are now entering the mission field." I enjoyed hearing about the sign and thought it was a great way to look at the world but more importantly I was elated how Mt. Zion folks go to church even when on vacation. Thank you Palmers!!!

Also, I really want to thank each of you for your spirit toward worship. I just received a call from someone who is involved in ministry within a mega church and they commented how people just don't get it sometimes. They spoke how some are voicing aggravations about the church they attend not offering deeper teachings. But then when you ask them how many people they have led to Christ recently you find many of these so called, or better yet self labeled "Deep thinkers" are often very shallow.

God desires a loving relationship with us...not a teacher to pupil arrangement. Yes, education is awesome but for many within Christianity, education can become an escape mechanism in which we absent ourselves from more serious matters like bringing lost souls to a saving relationship with God. I dare say, when we all face God, He will not be as concerned whether we figured out scriptural passages as He will be happy with our love for our fellow man. Every week people come to church with a myriad of challenges and concerns and I joke around in the pulpit the way I do sometimes because I know there are hurting souls which need to laugh. As for our own "Deep Teachings" well we might have to have them piped in or received via correspondence course because I can only raise the bar so high.

If you haven't already noticed, each week I try and give a pep talk to the team and at the same time invite new team members. This should be our main desire daily and if we are not about it we should be doing something to be about it. When we open the Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) we should ask God to speak to us, through us and for us. Prepare us to share us. Make us willing to be a filling for this lost and empty world. And when we run out of clever little sayings...help us still be the people He would have us be.

This Sunday I hope to bring a message from Matthew chapter 16 where Jesus poses a question to his followers which is the same question still being asked today. We should inspect Jesus words to properly place them within our daily lives. There has been some distortion about what Jesus was saying but even a small child can understand when they do not have the traditions of men and the ways of this world standing in their way. Begin to read for yourselves this great chapter and be ready to search for God's word to each of us for today.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday and please tell everyone about the upcoming Vacation Bible School at MZCC. It will be another great one I am sure. Every day I find workers at the church preparing for this awesome time we are privileged to participate in and work with, children from various churches and towns, to lead them to a more Christ centered world. The first day of VBS is July 19th and it runs through Friday July 24th so mark it on your calendars.

For the Cause of Christ,

Kenny
