What a wonderfully exciting VBS!!!! Last night we
celebrated the last night of VBS with a great ending
ceremony. This was a record year for Mt Zion as well as
different kind of VBS as Nancy Gray and her helpers pulled
an over nighter complete with camp fire songs, stories,
prizes and tents galore.
Everywhere you looked in the gym there were tents. Because
of the rain, Nancy and her team decided it was best to
create a rain date for the PARTY CENTRAL water slide which
is August 16th right after morning worship. I believe it was
an intelligent choice even though it saddened many VBS'rs.
With the forecasted rain, Nancy chose to side step the
possible lightning which could accompany the rain and I
thank her for it.
I want to thank Ray Johnson again for mowing the grass
throughout the summer. Ray and his wife Peggy attended each
night of VBS as their great grand-daughter Sydney attended
each night. Sydney loves VBS and you can see it on her face
as she was all smiles every night. Thanks you Ray and Peggy
for all you do.
This Sunday we will be doing things a bit different in our
morning worship service. Because of a flight which could not
be obtained at any other time, J.D. and I will need to leave
church around 11 am. We will probably start the preaching
much earlier and have announcements and skits n such follow.
It will mix up things a bit but we need to do this from time
to time anyway so as not to become stagnate.
We still have many chairs to unwrap and move. The blue
sanctuary chairs are still in the gym stacked up and many of
the new black plastic chairs have legs wrapped in cloth. If
anyone could come out at any time and help with this, please
call Nancy Gray @ 859-771-2446 and she can help.
I continue to brag on Mt. Zion Christian Church ever where I
go. We have an awesome team of members and congregants who
give of themselves over and over. If you are not one of the
strong, brave Zion'rs, you could start being one at anytime
by stepping up and giving God what you might be giving to
others in other areas or......what you have not yet given
anywhere yet, just volunteer today.
I am supposed to leave Friday morning for Mississippi where
I am scheduled to speak at a youth rally that night and
Saturday morning. Then I am scheduled to drive 2 hours and
catch a plane Saturday afternoon and arrive home that same
night. Please pray that all goes as designed.
Have a blessed week, fun weekend and be sure to mark it all
out with plans to be in worship with the rest of us in God's
house Sunday.
