I have just returned from the very well attended funeral service for 24 year old Chase Province, where I tried to remind everyone of their need to follow Christ...Now. I tried my best to put it all in simple terms everyone could understand, using baseball as an analogy, and for two reasons.

#1 Chase loved baseball and everyone knew that.
#2 There is so much confusion through television and Christian mimicking cults which actually pervert the true Gospel/Good News of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ came into this world at the request of His Father, God. His mission was to represent His Father, living a life free from sin. Look at this parable Jesus spoke to the people:

Matthew 21:33-41 (NIV)
33 "Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey.
34 When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.
35 "The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.
36 Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way.
37 Last of all, he sent his son to them. 'They will respect my son,' he said.
38 "But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him and take his inheritance.'
39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

As wild as that parable might sound, it was played out in Jesus' life. The people who killed Jesus did not know that they were being used as pawns in a satanic attempt to destroy God. While being crucified on the cross, Jesus asked God not to hold those people responsible for they did not know what they were doing.

The reasons (Plural) many people are walking around with burdens galore stems from a lack of knowledge (number one) and a failure to follow through (Number two.) The Bible makes it very clear through Hosea 4:6 that God's people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. What's worse is to have knowledge but continue doing things MY WAY.

Jesus spoke of one who was delivered from a demon within himself. The demon eventually came back to the man and found he hadn't made any changes to anything BUT WAS STILL CLEAN...Yes clean BUT EMPTY. The demon brought some friends with him and they all moved back into the man.

In the story, the deliverance can be related to knowledge and following through with the knowledge can be related to making changes in our lives, not having the demons back ever again. How to apply all of this is where the excitement begins. The knowledge we need to posses comes from acknowledging we have sin in our lives and that Jesus offers forgiveness. The follow through comes about when we ask for that forgiveness (become clean) and are baptized (Become filled.) Far too many people are out there perverting the Gospel of Christ by telling people they just need to believe while the Book of James makes it very clear the Devils in Hell believe AND THEY TRIMBLE. They believe but that isn't good enough for if it were, they would not be devils, they would not be in Hell and they certainly would not be continuing to tremble.

It is up to each one of us to snatch souls from the fire. The way we do this is to be a walking, talking, breathing, scoping, searching, bucket of truth which we deliver to everyone we see. We need to become more proactive. Look for those who are hurting. Ask God to show them to you, for them to be placed in your path. They are out there, in your family, at your work & at your leisure. Find them! Share with them the truth that has set you free. Hear their confession, pray with them...Baptize them. Having them trained up in the ways of God will also bring about added peace especially when disturbing things happen as it will until we come into the full presence of God.

I continue to hear people say they are not getting anything out of their church and might want to come to MZCC. While I would love to see MZCC grow in attendance, the best way to get something out of the church you attend is to put something into it. Start your own evangelistic mindset and watch how you start getting something out of wherever you go to church. You will be surprised, the lost may be saved and your church will wonder why you are so filled with joy.

On the way home from the funeral service I received a call from a man who was at the wedding I performed in Jessamine County this past Saturday. He requested meeting with me concerning the salvation challenge I offered during the ceremony. Yippie ahh ehye! Bring out the Lord wherever you are, whatever you are doing, wherever you are going, share the news that Christ offers forgiveness of sins, peace of mind, continued assurance and eternal life.

p.s. If you are interested in receiving a copy of my speech with the comparison to baseball, just email me kws0077@yahoo.com.
