“LIFE”

Someone has said the only problem with life is… “It’s so daily!”  The truth is, life is not fair, life is uncertain, life is short but life is so precious, it is a gift from God, so live one day at a time as if that day was your last. 

 I have been at Mt. Zion for just over 18 months and like at any other church… LIFE HAPPENS.  Couples have gotten married. There have been new babies born!  People have been baptized. Others have renewed their life in Christ. New people have found a ministry of helping others.  Others are reaching out in their schools and neighborhoods. 

Life happens.  Some people have lost their jobs.  People are going through divorce as spouses run off.  Others have had family members incarcerated.  Some parents are crying out because their child is on drugs and alcohol.  Others have had their daughter get pregnant out of wedlock.  Still others see their kids lying and stealing or into pornography.  Guilt is eating up many people’s lives. 

Some have been in denial of problems and have poured themselves into over working, overspending, over eating, drugs, alcohol and many relationships. 

Some have unfair practices going on at work, prideful bosses, negative co workers who complain and gossip all the time.

Some people are so angry and it is messing up relationships and their work.

Some people are so insecure, so afraid, so depressed that they are paralyzed and don’t want to get out of bed in the mornings.     

And there have been deaths.  Some have gone on to be with the Lord who were in their 30’s, 40's, 50's  and older.  Some family members have died and the family is not sure of their salvation. Others have gone to heaven way before we thought they should, like recently the precious Chestnut girls, ages 4 and 5 and there is a lot of grieving. 

LIFE is LIFE.  It is so daily.  And we all have to deal with theseHURTS, HABITS and HANGUPS.  There is all this garbage we are carrying around, there is this extra trash we carry, there are these handcuffs that keep us in a daily prison… And yet we have a God who wants to lessen the load and who wants to free us.  Jesus said, “Come to Me all who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” “Jesus said I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.”

So for the next 2 weeks I will be speaking about God and how He wants to lighten our load, He want us to get rid of this baggage, the hurts, habits and hang-ups that happen in our LIFE.  

(I will finish the series after Easter on April 15, 22 and 29th.) 

And basically we will be going along with the same program of AA, the 12 Step Recovery Program.  And since most of the 12 Steps came from God’s Word…The Sermon on the Mount by Jesus, Romans 7, I Corinthians 13 and the Book of James we are going to dive into both books, the AA Big Book and the Really BIG BOOK, God’s Word!    

This would be an excellent time FOR YOU to invite people you know who are dealing with Life, who have family or friends who are dealing with the Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups.
